Why can't I connect to my FTP site?
It is likely that you are not using Internet Montana for your connection.
Standard Internet security practices restrict FTP access to the server to users who are actually connected via the server.
If you are using a broadband connection, we can write an exception if you have a static IP address that allows reverse DNS lookup.
Contact our technical support for more help and information.

What do nameservers do?
When your computer connects to another machine on the internet, it needs to know that machine's IP address.
A nameserver is a system that translates between host names and IP addresses.
When you try to connect to a site by its host name, your computer asks our nameserver for the appropriate IP address.
Your computer must have its nameserver settings properly configured.
Without the right configuration, your computer will not be able to look up the IP addresses of the sites you try to reach.

How do I make nameservice changes?
If we are doing the primary nameservice for your domain, you should contact us to have changes made.
We are more than happy to change machine names, add aliases, or change your mail routing.
Just mail us at support@imt.net and let us know what you want done. There is no charge for this.

When do changes take effect?
Changes that we make to your already registered domain will take effect when our nameservers reload their information.
This is done daily, at around 7 AM. Any new queries performed after this will see the changes.
However, most nameservers cache the results of recent queries, so it might take up to a few days for everyone on the net to notice the new changes.
