Managing Email with Filters
Benefit #1: Removing Junk Email
There are more than one type of filtering solution for this problem.
Using multiple teirs of filters are the most effective arrangement.
First, any Internet service provider worth its salt will provide some filtering at the server level (before your email is delivered to your account).
We at Internet Montana have in place several protocols as a first level filter against the majority of spam that requests delivery to our server.

Second, while some generic filtering is generally in place at the server level, one-size-fits-all rules can only be moderately effective.
We also have available at the server level a premium filter service, in which each individual may configure filtering sensitivity to their specific needs.

And third, while the premium filter service can reach effective levels of 95% and greater, no one system can reach 100%.
Using an email client that includes the ability to set up personal filtering rules can be the last bastion of defense against unwanted emails.

Now some of you may be wondering why anyone needs more than one email address. How many of you even knew that an email program could hold more than one email account at one time? (Most of them can, by the way)
Then, there's the rest of you reading this and thinking "Yah! how do I do that?"
There are two common situations where multiple email addresses have occassion to be organized.
First, if a family or office has a shared computer, with two or more people using email on the same machine.
The second may occur if a person has a web page domain, and is using multiple email aliases (see our page on Domains for more details).
