Internet Montana supports the FTP programs: WS-FTP for Windows95 and 3.X and Fetch for Macintosh.

Note: Internet Montana only allows FTP access when dialed in to us.
You will not be able to FTP into Internet Montana if using another provider.

How to Use WS-FTP

  1. Download WS-FTP here
  2. To create a new profile, click New.
  3. Name the new profile: Internet Montana.
  4. Enter imt.net in the box labeled Host Name.
  5. The Host Type should be set to Auto Detect or UNIX
  6. The User ID should be your username; do not add the @imt.net
  7. The Password should be your account's password.
  8. The Account should be left blank.
  9. Do not select Anonymous Login.
  10. Click the tab labeled Startup.
  11. Enter public_html in the box labeled: Initial Remote Host Directory.
  12. Click Apply and then OK.




You are now ready to transfer files! Click the Connect button and enter your password if prompted.

Choose the drive, directory, and then the file that you would like to transfer. The Local System is your computer. In the opposite window, choose the drive,(if on your computer), and directory you would like to transfer the file to. Click the arrow between the two windows to send the file to either our server or your computer.
You may delete or rename a file by highlighting it and clicking on the appropriate button next to the display window.
Directories can be created by clicking on the MkDir button. You will be prompted for a name for the new directory. You can switch to a directory by either doubleclicking it from the list or highlighting it, then clicking the ChgDir button.
Close your connection by clicking the Close button.
Use the Help button located at the bottom of the WS-FTP window for more information.

TIPS: Name your file index.html if you would like it to appear automatically when someone accesses your web page.
Remember to close your FTP session or it will "hang" and prevent you from re-connecting.
